What I learned today.
Ever heard of the Gini coefficient? I suppose unless you're an economist or sociologist you probably haven't. Wikipedia has an excellent article here . The short explanation is, the Gini coefficient is a number between 0 and 1 that measures the inequality between two distributions, the original application was to measure the inequality between the rich and poor.
Wondering what the income inequality looks like the world over:
The article that first mentioned this number pointed out that the inequality in China is about the same as the United States. Hooray for capitalism.
